Recently, Dr. Huma Naqvi of Montefiore Medical Center came to us inquiring about renting some of our injection trainers. She was going to be traveling to the first-ever Rehabilitation Medicine Conference in Karbala, Iraq with Imamia Medics International, an organization of philanthropic doctors (similar to Doctors without Borders).
The main objective of their trip was to increase awareness about all the possible rehabilitation interventions and techniques in war-affected areas of Iraq. They left on their mission with five Sawbones Injection Trainers. The conference included live lectures and workshops covering a variety of rehabilitation topics such as: spasticity management; musculoskeletal ultrasound and injections; pediatric rehabilitation; pain management; and common interventions by physical, occupational, and speech therapists.
Upon return, Dr Naqvi informed us that the trip was an overwhelming success. The injection models were extremely helpful and really helped encourage the young doctors. We are so grateful to have been able to help Dr. Naqvi continue her humanitarian mission and take the Global Health Initiative to the next level.
